Texas loses at the Cotton Bowl

Tate Sandell’s 47-yard field goal as time expired gave Oklahoma a 27-24 win. Texas led 17-7 at halftime, but the Sooners scored 17 points in the fourth quarter. Arch Manning threw three touchdown passes and two interceptions.

The loss came despite Texas holding a 382-238 edge in total yardage. Oklahoma scored on a blocked-punt recovery and Peyton Bowen’s interception return, showing how two possessions outside the Sooners’ ordinary offense changed the score. Read the Red River game report for Manning’s numbers and the closing sequence.

Houston finds Overmyer four times

Houston beat Kansas State 35-16, with Conner Weigman throwing for 242 yards. All four of his touchdown passes went to tight end Patrick Overmyer. The scoring catches covered 1, 2, 8 and 2 yards.

That connection supplied the finishing plays while Houston’s running game kept drives moving. The Cougars gained 233 rushing yards, finished with 475 total yards and converted all three fourth-down attempts. They led 21-3 at halftime and improved to 5-1 ahead of the Oklahoma State home game.

UTSA answers South Florida’s late lead

South Florida went ahead 24-23 with 1:56 left. UTSA then covered 75 yards in ten plays, ending with A’Marion Peterson’s one-yard touchdown and a successful two-point conversion for a 31-24 win.

Peterson scored three rushing touchdowns. Owen McCown’s 19-yard scramble and Will Henderson III’s 26-yard run helped the final drive reach the goal line. UTSA is 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the American, with Navy next at the Alamodome.

A&M finishes without a touchdown

Missouri beat Texas A&M 27-6. David Olano’s two field goals supplied all the Aggies’ points. A&M fell to 3-3 overall and 1-3 in SEC play, while Missouri’s Jamal Roberts ran for 222 yards and two touchdowns.

The Aggies return to Kyle Field against The Citadel. The offensive task is clear after scoring six points: turn drives into touchdowns before the next SEC road trip to Alabama.
