Texas Hires Jabbar Juluke as Associate Head Coach and Running Backs Coach

AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Longhorns have bolstered their coaching staff with a significant SEC hire. Head coach Steve Sarkisian officially announced on Friday the hiring of Jabbar Juluke as the program's new Associate Head Coach regarding offense and Running Backs Coach.
A Proven Developer
Juluke arrives in Austin after four successful seasons at Florida (2022-2025), where he served in the same capacity. During his time in Gainesville, he was instrumental in developing one of the SEC's most potent rushing attacks, mentoring standout backs like Trevor Etienne and Montrell Johnson Jr. In 2025, he helped guide freshman sensation Jadan Baugh to a 1,000-yard season.
Sarkisian noted Juluke's reputation in the profession, citing his track record of developing talent and building physical run games. Juluke's recruiting ties to Louisiana and Texas were also highlighted as key assets for the program's SEC competitiveness.
Extensive Experience
Juluke is no stranger to the landscape of college football in the south. His coaching resume boasts over 30 years of experience, including stops at:
- Louisiana (2018-2021): Helped Billy Napier build the Ragin' Cajuns into a Sun Belt power.
- Texas Tech (2017): Served as Associate Head Coach during a stint in the Big 12.
- LSU (2016): Coached NFL stars Leonard Fournette and Derrius Guice.
- Louisiana Tech (2013-2015): Oversaw the record-breaking career of Kenneth Dixon.
Before rising to the collegiate ranks, Juluke was a legendary high school coach in New Orleans, leading Edna Karr High School to a state championship and an 80-39 record.
